How my pet contributes to my well-being

By Dorothée Pâris Pasturel • 10 December 2024

We asked you a while ago how your pet contributes to your well-being during the pandemic. Here are your best testimonies:

I live alone with my little Émile, I work from home 5 days a week for more than 2 months … he is the only living being that I can cuddle so he is of great importance in my confinement … and he often makes me laugh out loud

Celine

My cat is my most precious friend. She is my other half, my angel, my baby, my friend, my confidante, the most magnificent little living being there is. In her pure gaze, I never feel judged. She is always there, like a valiant heart. She allows me to continue to believe in the beauty of life. Because, isn’t it just wonderful to have the greatest privilege, to be able to live in the company of animals? They are the most beautiful thing on this Earth with nature. They live in the present moment, love without judgment, and put a most beneficial balm on the hearts of many humans. I pay tribute to my beautiful kitty. She is my home port, my lighthouse when I feel lost. For her, I chose to stay alive at a certain moment…… Today I am able to love life, and to see it with a benevolent gaze. I can only be most grateful to her. I love you deeply Tasha, my tender and sweet friend.

Josee

The big Nana (Toutite) is an excellent companion during my confinement, our relationship continues to evolve on a daily basis. Now, she answers me when I “chat” with her and jumps into bed with enthusiasm when it’s time to sleep, among other things. With her energy I don’t have time to be bored, she makes me laugh so much, the annoying one!

France

My son got his cat Romeo during covid and Emile was very anxious and stressed. Since he got Romeo his good mood is back they are inseparable day and night ❤️

Sara

I live with my 2 kittens, they feel very well that I need their tenderness. The 2 come from shelters, my “old” 12 year old even wipes my tears sometimes, I often say that she saved my life.

Isabelle

Without my Lloro, I would have been committed a long time ago. He gets me out of bed in the morning, gets me out of the house. Takes my mind off things, makes me laugh with his jokes.
He is always happy to see us . He is the ray of sunshine that makes the rainbow appear through my tears in this confinement.

Marie-Chantal

They are my babies, my balance, my friends, my confidants. They follow me everywhere and without them this unusual situation would be even more difficult to live with. Being telework allows me to see them all the time. They accompany me all day long, taking naps in relays or double naps, by my side. I am fulfilled! ❤️ ❤️

Genevieve

My 3-year-old daughter usually goes to daycare but since the pandemic started she can’t play with anyone. My kitty is 2 years old and has the patience of an angel. She does us good. Lucky we have her.

Nadia

At the very beginning of the pandemic I had a week of confinement while the office was getting organized and for the first time in my life I had anxiety attacks. Everything that was happening at the same time stressed me out a lot and having my two cats with me all day and their purring helped me calm the anxiety.

Catherine

My dog Venus is ultra reassuring for me and my anxiety. I take her everywhere with me or I can take her. She pushes me to be more active (because I have to go for a walk with her) she pushes me to be more sociable (I go to the dog park every day). She reassures me knowing that no matter the emotion or the physical and mental state where I am she will welcome me unconditionally.

Charlotte

Pet therapy for me for a few years, Tootsy Woots is affectionate, paws for treats and high 5s, watches concerts on TV with me, sits at the counter when I put on makeup, cuddles me when I have to stay in bed. I have had cats for 62 years, and my autistic son has a special relationship with all the cats that have been and are part of our family. Our other cat, Poopoo Poulet “talks”..we taught him to “say” “no more”..lol
