Testimonial: why do I give to Proanima?

By Patricia Durocher • 10 December 2024

Here is the testimony of one of our loyal and generous donors:

I donate to Proanima because I deeply love animals. They are generally very direct and unfiltered with humans. Also, no matter our physique or our little flaws, no matter our salary or our social status, no matter what can sometimes seem so important in the eyes of our fellow human beings, animals “feel” who we really are and love us for who we are intrinsically.

I give to Proanima because, in my opinion, it is a return of the pendulum. Our animals are always there to share our daily lives. They are present at our side, always trusting us. And when we have gained the trust of an animal, it is often for life. They are so loving and loyal, these four-legged friends! Animals give us so much… It is my turn to give, to do something for them.

I also give to Proanima because I sincerely believe in justice. Animals are too often and in spite of themselves innocent victims. Without a voice to make their suffering heard, sometimes mistreated and abandoned, whether voluntarily or not, animals have very rarely chosen the environment in which they live. Unfortunately, they are not all lucky. The shelter gives this second chance to animals.

Finally, I give to Proanima to support the approach it began seven years ago, which is to educate and raise awareness among humans about the well-being and respect of animals. Over the years, the services have improved, with, for example, the creation of cat sterilization clinics, as well as the development of a foster family structure.

But, since animal rights are not yet fully recognized by the various levels of government, and although progress has been made in recent years, an organization like Proanima cannot count on significant government support. This is why donations, often the only source of funding, are so crucial. The amounts are not very important but the gesture is enormous!

So I told myself that I wouldn’t wait for anyone to give. I said to myself, “I’m giving right now. If I can help just one animal, that’s a start. Let’s help one animal at a time.”

Just like me, I invite you to do the same. To the best of your respective abilities, do it for animals and for society. Both will be eternally grateful to you.”

Christian, a proud donor of Proanima.

Marley was treated for a broken leg thanks to a GoFundMe that raised over $4,200! Christian generously contributed to this amount.
