Proanima: why this change?

On September 25, we changed our identity. Services Animaliers de la Rive-Sud proudly became Proanima, after several months of work by our communications team.

But what are the reasons for this change? Find out in detail here why this development is taking place:

Why did we decide to change our name?

• To better represent the evolution of our services and our mission. Our mission is to inspire and raise awareness of respect and animal welfare among humans, one person, one community and one city at a time . It is therefore important that our new name and logo refer as much to the services we offer to citizens as to our services to animals.
• So that our name is inclusive of all the territories that we serve or could be called upon to serve, such as Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu which is located outside the South Shore
• To make our name simpler and easier to remember
• So that our name is easy to say in both French and English.

Why this name?

The prefix Pro refers to several keywords that represent us: proactive, professional, animal protector, pro-animal (therefore committed to the animal cause). The Anima part of course refers to animals in a simpler and more sophisticated way. Moreover, the term Anima comes from the Latin anima (“breath, soul”) from which the term animal comes.

Why did you choose this new logo?

The choice of the hand encircling the animal silhouettes suggests a strong bond between human and animal. It also represents the idea of support and protection. The animals are looking in the same direction, towards the future, where our gaze is also directed. The addition of the rabbit is meant to communicate that we help all types of domestic animals.

We kept 2 of our 3 colors for the sake of harmony and simplicity: orange for dynamism and energy, and blue for universality.

The chosen typography is articulated in roundness, which expresses both modernity and proximity.

Why did you choose the slogan ‘Serve people. Help animals’?

Our slogan is meant to express our core mission: to serve people and help animals. All of our services and projects are captured in these two simple and direct sentences. Our slogan truly indicates what we accomplish every day.
